I can say with confidence, that she’s a rarity

in our discipline [art & design], there are far more important criteria for one’s success, and Olivia possesses these in abundance. Creativity, talent, the ability and desire to think and solve problems both practically and in an abstract manner…she understands the creative process”.

Olivia Sims Design Student Experience | Studying Graphic & Interactive Design at Raritan Valley Community College (2020 - 2022)

Sims graduated from high school in June of 2020. After graduation, she attended Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg New Jersey to study Graphic & Interactive Design, where she received her Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts. Sims was recognized for her talents within the art & design discipline throughout the two years spent studying at RVCC with multiple original works shown in art galleries and winning exhibitions alongside other acknowledgments.

Sims studied topics such as typography, motion graphics, digital photography, visual design/graphic design, art history, web design, drawing, color theory, and three-dimensional design. One of the final courses Sims engaged in prior to graduation, portfolio development, required her to create an entire portfolio website - a collection of all the work created over the course of her studies for her AFA. Alongside this portfolio, Sims likewise designed a portfolio book of her original work - existing in digital and tangible forms.

Studying design at RVCC allowed Sims to create lasting connections between professors and advisors who aided in her personal development alongside her education in creative practices.
